The lastest on me

Since the last time I wrote to you I enjoyed two very different book signing experiences. First, I visited the Borders bookstore in Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. This one was easy, since the store is on the concourse before the security gates, unlike the other airport stores I’ve signed in. It’s also right at the bottom of the escalator people come down on their way to one set of gates. I saw a lot of people that day, but many of them were rushing to catch their flight. Still, a good number stopped to take a copy of Blood and Bone with them.
Then I spent some time in the busiest bookstore I’ve ever stood in. Borders in the Gateway Plaza Shopping Center in Silver Spring, MD is a huge, bustling store next door to a movie theater and set on the corner so there are entrances from two different streets. Cheerful employees guided patrons through some very long lines pretty quickly. I signed lots of last minute Christmas gifts but, like my experience at Reagan National, I had to perfect my high-speed “what’s your book about” response. People were in hurry, and making decisions to buy or not buy in 10 seconds!
I can’t wait for the next one.
