My lovely wife Denise (the publisher) is blogging about LSI because it has been a very successful place for us to publish and because she is asked numerous questions about it by self-publishing authors wanting to know how it works.

Tomorrow I’ll make my last visit to the Borders Express in St Charles Town Ctr before the big book release party. I’ll be there from 5 pm to 9 pm signing my novels and chatting about the upcoming book. If that’s your home area, it would be cool to stop by at 5000 Highway 301 S Waldorf, MD, and see where all the fun is going to be.

When you sit down to start your workday, look around your office. I’ll bet there’s that one person who keeps the ship afloat by handling the thousands of essentials that let you concentrate on your actual job. Notice that as soon as that person sits down to a cup of hot coffee, her boss will ask her to do something that will last until the coffee is cold.
We have a very effective lady in our office who makes things happen. Fire and forget, you know it’s handled. Of course, the trouble with doing something right the first time is that nobody appreciates how difficult it was.
Just remember that no one who achieves success does so without acknowledging the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude.
Today is Administrative Professionals Day. Nuff said.

I like to point you to books that will be good additions to your personal library, or web sites that might help you find them. Today I want to tell you about Mark Athitakis’ American Fiction Notes.
Mark Athitakis is a writer, an editor, a critic, and a blogger who’s spent more than a dozen years in journalism. The fact that his work has appeared in the New York Times Book Review, Washington Post Book World, Chicago Sun-Times, Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Washington City Paper and lots of other places makes me believe he really is qualified to talk about the fiction being written today.
In addition to news and commentary, Mark also maintains a list on the site of upcoming readings in the Washington, D.C. area. The blog is well worth being a regular stop.

Saturday’s book signing at Borders Express - Wheaton Mall was fun, not just because I got to meet a whole new crowd of potential fans, but because I saw some old one’s too. New friends included Monica, who e-mailed me that same night to say, “I am here reading the book that you signed and have not been able to put it down.” One old friend gave me a wonderful surprise by stopping by with the baby, but he slept thru the entire experience (Hi Sally!)
Yesterday, Reagan National Airport was hopping and the Borders on the concourse was a lot busier than the last time I was there. No old friends came by, but I signed twice as many books as the day before so it was all good.
The big news is that we’ve finally made all the arrangements for the gala launch party for Russian Roulette. My lovely wife Denise has arranged a very classy affair at Farrcroft House in Fairfax, VA. The venue (AKA the Wilson Farr House) often plays host to weddings, bridal showers and fancy luncheons. This Colonial Revival style home in the heart of Fairfax has been party central in these parts since the Farr’s marriage ceremony in 1915. It was updated in 2001 but retains many of the period details, like Georgia red pine floors. The aforementioned wife has arranged for hors d’oeuvres and wine on June 6th from 2 pm to 6 pm. I have arranged to have copies of Russian Roulette available, a full week before they appear in any stores.
Why am I telling you all this? Because each and every one of you is invited!

I like to point you to books that will be good additions to your personal library, or web sites that might help you find them. Today I want to tell you about a new on line television show from WVTA Television called “Morning Coffee.”
David Ewen, producer of my Blog Talk Radio show, Book Bridge, has started a televised program on the web to promote authors, publishers, writers, and book sellers. The first show salutes Circle of Seven Productions and the first anniversary of the COS Radio Network. A lot of people in the publishing industry participated in the show, and many more sent letters of congratulations, including me. Just reading those letters, David introduces his audience to many of those talents and their work, so even the debut episode has several good leads to good reads. So watch the first episode of “Morning Coffee.”
